A Buddha on Elm Street

A Buddha on Elm Street

A Buddha on Elm Street (1998)

Blog with a View, at heart, is a digital art photoblog. Each Wednesday, I present an image without meeting in secret to scheme new means to toss red meat to my debased base.

We murmur about movies behind the ringed curtain, watching the monitor beep above our mother. I do not understand why my sister doesn't find slapstick funny. Even Jackie Chan, I tell her, admired Buster Keaton so much that he stole many of Keaton's routines. Various personnel enter to ask questions, but we firmly stay quiet, allowing our mother to answer the same questions over and over, to double check if she is still rational. We hope this time they do not give her any pain medication. My sister demonstrates how to help her nap, by telling a story of the rash that spread all over her body, but in so calm and monotonous a tone that our mother nods off, and we settle back in our uncomfortable metal chairs, smiling at each other, because we both know she needs some rest.
