I suppose it's a way of trying to shape some order of the chaos.

Some fractal artists use only numbers to title their works -- like "1147795 #8." Maybe they worry about biasing a viewer's interpretation.

To me, titles are surreal fun -- but are only a nudge and not a prescription. I may name an image, but those who see it will make it personally meaningful -- or turn away uninterested.cruelanimalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08045809979308725755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12229254.post-61614712777803424362007-03-29T20:08:00.000-04:002007-03-29T20:08:00.000-04:00I return to the question of intentionality. For so...I return to the question of intentionality. For some artists, the making of the art is the whole issue, and what happens afterwards, whether a public appreciation develops or not, is irrelevant. For commercial artists, the marketability of the art is the issue, and what is made depends on public acceptance. There is clearly some pleasure that making these fractals gives you. In part, that must have something to do with the surreal pleasure of naming the abstract art. Does giving it a name command its obedience? Could it be something other than what you have named it?Dr. Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17477774398775735186noreply@blogger.com
