This is an antique traffic smudge pot. It has been cleaned up and has its original wick. These make great tiki torches for your outdoor living.

The fact that I remember these dates me a bit. I loved those smudge pots, though - they were always ringed around open manhole covers or wretched street digs. The flames shuddered.
Street cones have a politeness. Those firey black cannonballs were HELLISH.
